A great wedding at St. John Neumann Canton MI…
This wedding for Kathryn & Kyle took place on a beautiful summer afternoon at St John Neumann in Canton MI. Their reception was at Lovett Hall in Dearborn MI. We briefly started out at the family home for a few getting ready pictures giving us a chance to work there. After some time we heading out to the church. We arrived at the church and planned to get a few photos before the service. Not the least of which is the announcement of the groom with his brother blowing on a vuvuzela!
As the bride entered the sanctuary all eyes were on her and her father. The Catholic mass generally takes about an hour so we were well prepared. We had a well-organized group of family photos after the service. We didn’t feature them here however that is typically a part of every wedding we photograph.
There’s a funny story from a few years back where a bride did not want us to speak during her wedding at all that is worth mentioning. The bride meant it, we were told not to speak during her wedding. One of the points we made as we discussed the planning was that she was not going to get family shots unless she set them up on her own. She didn’t. That of course was a very unusual case but that’s a story for another time but that was probably the most extreme example of photojournalism we ever saw.
Off to Greenfield village.
We arrived at Greenfield village and immediately started out in the Henry Ford Museum. Generally speaking, you can get access to the museum if it’s timed out before the wedding couple actually holding their marriage ceremony in the Museum or The Anderson Theater. You should check with the coordinators at the Henry Ford for more details. Our group was hosting their reception in Lovett Hall and it was our goal to get our shots around the museum before heading over to the reception. We spent some time in the beautiful hallways and on the grand staircase in the Henry Ford Museum.
It’s such a gorgeous space to work in and we love it! Having spent about 20 minutes there, we then made our way over to the reception in Lovett Hall. In most cases, the staff at the Henry Ford will allow the bride and groom to see their room before the guests come upstairs from cocktail hour. This is a chance to get some really pretty shots and for the bride and groom to see their room before the guests arrive. They then stepped away for a little bit while everyone got seated for the grand entrance.
It was such fun to see this wedding come together. Special Moments had lots of good conversations planning the day out with the bride and groom so that things would come off perfectly! After a lovely dinner they took to the floor for their first dance and then the party was on. We went outside during the evening for some gorgeous night shots. This is an incredible space to work in and we love it so much. We love shooting here and please call us to work our magic with your wedding!
