Japan America Society 34th Annual Dinner.
We had the privilege of photographing at the Japan America Society annual dinner this summer at Wayne State University in Detroit MI. The event started off at the Charles Lang Freer House for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before heading over to the McGregor Memorial Conf. Center for dinner and presentations. The Freer Home is a beautiful old dwelling built in 1890 and now belongs to WSU. The cocktail party allowed guests to mingle and see the home. After about an hour a few words were spoken by the special dignitaries in the courtyard. A shuttle bus was made available for guests to ride over to the McGregor Conference Center for the next phase of events.
Our goal was to capture some of the key moments and reactions of the guests of the guests and provide the organization with those images. It turned out to be a very nice event with lots of good energy in the air. We spent about an hour or so before we moved over to the McGregor Memorial Conference Center on campus. This is a beautiful building on the campus of the university and has hosted many fine events over the years.

We made our way over the McGregor Memorial Conference Center for the second half of the evening. A lovely dinner was served and everyone seemed to enjoy the time together. Present at the event were some very special guests, the Consul General of Japan Yusuke Shindo and his wife Mrs. Seiko Shindo.
The Keynote Speaker for the evening was Dr. Frank Feltens, Curator of Japanese Art at The National Museum of Asian Art, Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian Institution. Dr. Feltens provided fascinating talk filled with a wonderful series of slides and an in depth history of events. He has a wonderful way of holding your attention and his presentation was outstanding.
